Nike Unveils its First Self-Lacing Sneakers

Nike has unveiled that its first Self-lacing sneakers 'HyperAdapt1.0' will go on sale this year. The pricing of the shoe has not been released but from the specifications it wouldn't be a cheap one as the shoe would have 'adaptive-lacing' feature that offers the user a more comfortable experience.
This project’s technical lead, Tiffany Beers stated that “when you step in, your heel will hit a sensor and the system will automatically tighten.” Nike refers to this technology as “adaptive lacing” rather than “self-lacing” because there are two buttons on the side of the shoe that allows you adjust how loose or tight the laces are. In other words, people can customize the shoe or make modifications to fit their preferences.
The designers see the HyperAdapt 1.0 as the first step in the field of adaptive performance. While the shoes are currently manual, the technology opens up new possibilities for how sneakers could function almost seamlessly with a person’s feet, Nike designer Tinker Hatfield stated.

The company has not announced any information as regards the pricing or when the shoe would be available for purchase widely.
