Facebook CEO - Mark Zukerberg Pays Visit To Lagos, Nigeria

We’ve just confirmed that Mark Zuckerberg is at the CoCreation Hub, Yaba, Lagos, Nigeria at this very moment. He arrived this afternoon from Rome and is currently meeting with a few key players in the Nigerian technology sphere. In CcHub, he engaged with students and was in apparent wonderment at children coding.

Mark was in Rome with his wife, Priscilla, until a few hours ago (according to his Facebook page). He held a Q&A session, visited the Pope and did a few “touristy” things.

There’s been a lot of Facebook-related development in Nigeria so there’s a ton of reasons why Mark may be visiting. First, Free Basics launched in Nigeria and Mark showed his support for the Jobberman team. Then the Chan-Zuckerberg Initiative invested $24 million in Andela. Facebook’s developer workshop is happening tomorrow, and yesterday, we reported that Facebook is partnering with Cool Link to launch Express Wifi in Lagos some time this week.

There is going to be a Facebook Developer’s event tomorrow and I was expecting top devs from the Facebook team to show up, but apparently it is Zuckerberg himself that will be chairing the event tomorrow.

I reckon Mark is in Nigeria to kill all these birds – visit Jobberman, the Andela team he’s invested in, attend the developer workshop, launch Express Wifi AND have policy-centred conversations with the Nigerian government to further Facebook’s cause.

We unboxed the Hot 4 a couple of days ago and you can find the images and video on this page. Infinix Hot 4 X557 is a direct successor of the Infinix Hot 3. The Infinix Hot 4 still features a 5.5-inch display, but with an upgrade to Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) and offers a fingerprint sensor like the recently launched Infinix Hot S. This new smartphone also runs on the new XOS user interface making your phone fully customizable.

The Design and Display

Infinix Hot 4 features a 3D textured back which gives you a solid grip of our device. The back covers are available in Blue, Red, Green, Champagne, and Black colours.

Infinix Hot 4 has a 5.5-inch Display with the same 720 x 1280 pixels resolution as its predecessor. However, the display offers 12 ultrabright backlight LEDs, which should make for a more brilliant viewing experience and better outdoor view.

There’s absolutely no button on the left side, but on the right side are the volume controls and power button as seen in the below image.

Infinix Hot 4 runs on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). It is the third smartphone from Infinix to offer Marshmallow. This new smartphone also runs on the new XOS user interface making your phone fully customizable. You can change your theme and fonts without the need of rooting.

Infinix Hot 4 is powered by cortex, which offers a 32-bit address bus and a 1.3GHz quad-core processor.

The phone comes with 2GB RAM. This new smartphone is responsive, fast and performs exceptionally well. Games play just fine and I didn’t notice any lag when using the device. Multitasking works great, the 2GB RAM makes a lot of difference.

This phone also features a fingerprint sensor on the back like the Infinix Hot S which allows you conveniently secure ID access by placing you finger on the scanner right below the 8MP rear camera. 

Connectivity

It’s a dual SIM phone and the call quality was okay during use . Infinix Hot 4 features Smart Voice, which is just a technology that uses an additional microphone and some smart signal processing algorithms to isolate ambient noise for clearer calls. Whether you select SIM 1 or SIM 2 as default for data, you can set either to 3G. As expected, you can connect to the internet through WiFi and use your phone as a wireless hotspot.  You also have bluetooth for file transfer.

Storage

The phone comes with a 16GB in-built storage out of which you have almost 12G usable. It’s definitely not enough for people like me but there’s the option of using an external memory. It supports up to 32GB SD card.

Battery Life

The battery capacity of this device is 4000mAh and the phone has good battery management and you should be able to use it for 2 days.

The Camera

The front facing camera is getting an upgrade from 2 megapixels in the Hot 3 to 5 megapixels in the latest iteration. This makes the Infinix Hot 4 better for selfies.

There does not seem to be any improvement on the rear facing camera. Infinix Hot 4 still offers an 8 megapixels sensor with a five element lens system on top. This is essentially the same setup as its predecessor. The camera offers an LED flash with autofocus.

I know some of you will be like, " NOT ANOTHER PHONE!!!" but yes its another amazing phone from Infinix Mobile, The Infinix Hot 4.

The new Infinix Hot 4 is a new android smartphone recently launched into the Infinx Hot series. Coming just after Infinix launched the Infinix Hot S, the Hot 4 X557 is a follow up of Infinix Hot 3 but this time, Infinix Hot 4 X557 came with a lot of beautiful features at a very modest price to go with.
This device features a 5.5 inches fluid display with a resolution of 720 pixels by 1280 pixels, it comes running on Android Marshmallow 6.0 customized with the new XOS user interface that was made available for other Infinix devices not too long ago.

On unboxing the pack contains the phone (infinix Hot 4), a user manual, a power adapter, a usb cable and a pair of earphones as seen in the image above.

1. The Infinix Hot 4 X557 is the first Infinix phone to run XOS out of the box

2. The Infinix Hot 4 is A Bit Weighty

One of the things you will notice when you first hold the infinix Hot 4 is that tis device is quite weighty more than the infinix Hot 3. So if you are a fan of a bulky device then this smartphone is definitely for you.

3. This Smartphone Is Not Slim:

Compared with the Hot 3 you will notice that the Hot 4 is not a slim device. The Hot 3 is way more slimmer than the Hot 4.

4. Infinix Hot 4 Possess A Plastic Back Cover

Unlike the Infinix Hot 3 the Hot  comes in a "3D textured" plastic back cover which gives you a solid grip of your device because the texture isn't smooth.

5. Battery Not Removeable

You can take out the back cover of the back cover of the Hot 4 but  unlike the Hot 3, the 4000mAh battery is not removable.

6. Yet Another Infinix Phone Without Notification Sensor

Dear Infinix Fans, i will like to inform you that the notification sensor is also absent from the Infinix Hot 4, lol. But i am also glad to inform you that we still have the front flash and proximity sensor.

7. The Finger Print Sensor Is Very Impressive

The finger print scanning features came on a platter of Gold on the Hot 4. You can conveniently secure ID access by placing you finger on the scanner right below the 8MP rear camera. Judging from my usage, the fingerprint sensor of this device is very impressive and is 99.9% perfect.

Microsoft Rewards Will Now Pay You To Use Its Edge Browser

Microsoft has a new browser. It launched with Windows 10 and it’s called Edge. The company says it’s faster, more battery efficient and all-round better than Chrome or Firefox.

This week, Microsoft announced that it is re-branding the former Bing rewards to Microsoft rewards. This platform will pay you to use the Edge browser and Bing. Edge users who sign up for Microsoft Rewards, would be awarded points simply for using the browser. The bad news is this feature is currently available to users in the USA.

How? Microsoft would actively monitor whether you are using the program for up to 30 hours a month, you also have to make Bing as your default search engine to earn points. Points can then be traded in for vouchers or credit for places such as Starbucks, Skype, Amazon and ad-free Outlook.com.

So if you are currently running on windows 10 and you are a USA user, you could try out the Microsoft rewards.

Google Duo Finally Available For Download On Google Play Store

Google announced the launch of a video call app at the Google IO 2016 named Google Duo. This app is now available for download and I am already using it. Google Duo is another way Google answers to Apple's Facetime. This app makes face-to-face call with android smartphones and can also make video calls from android to iPhones too as this app is available to iPhone users.

Duo's unique feature is Knock Knock, which gives you a preview of who is calling by firing up the camera on the other end of the line. If you're initiating the call, you'll see a little notice that says your video is visible, which means the other person can see what you're doing right at that moment in real time. Android users can see Knock Knock regardless of whether Duo is opened or not (like on the lock screen). On the iPhone though, you'll only see it if you're in the app. Otherwise, you'll just get a little notification saying someone's calling you. Google's rationale for this is that Knock Knock already gets you smiling before the call starts. Of course, that's assuming you actually like/want to speak to the other person who is on the other line.

USSD Code To Check Your Mobile Number For All Networks

Checking your phone number isn’t an issue for some people, but for some of us who probably have more than 1 mobile number remembering them can be one big issue. I have fallen in situations where I will be required to provide my phone number for one or two reasons but i am not able to remember it.

In this post, i will be teaching with you how to check your mobile number on all networks in Nigeria by dialing a simple USSD code.

How To Check Your Mobile Number

1. For Airtel Nigeria

To check and know your mobile phone number on Airtel, dial *121#

Follow the onscreen instruction, Select 1, and send for My Account option.

On the next screen that comes up, select 1 and send as My Number option.

Your phone number will be displayed to you on the screen. You can write it out and save somewhere.

2. For MTN Nigeria

Dial *123# and follow onscreen process that follows. Respond with option 1, then send to select My tools option. Then select option 5 in My Tools to request My Number. This will display your phone number on the screen.

3. For GLO

Dial *135*8# and your number displays on your screen or dial 1244 to listen it.

4. For Etisalat

Simply dial *248# and your number will be displayed.

The codes above will help you successfully check your mobile number and save you from some embarrassing situations where you forget your number.

Negative Effects Of Using Microsoft Word To Compose Blog Posts

Recently, i had problems with my blog. I noticed i had just one post appearing on my blog's homepage when i had set it to show 10 posts on my homepage. I went back to my blog layout settings and checked it but it was still set to 10 posts. I noticed this problem after publishing a post i had composed with microsoft word. Microsoft word generates some very mysterious and complex HTML "MsoNormal". This HTML affects the blogs pagination. This is why you notice some big blogs with lots of articles suffer from segmentation. This mysterious HTML could also cause the blog to load slowly both in blogspot and wordpress blogs.

So if you have have been copy-pasting from ms word to your blog i will advice you stop using it. Notepad is a preferable text editor which you can use to compose your blog posts and paste it to your blog. But still if you like using microsoft word you can use (CTRL+Shift+V) to paste content to your blog without the "MsoNormal" formatting.

How To Redirect 1and1 Domain To Blogger Blog

Of recent i have been receiving emails and request from blogger and webmasters on how they can park their 1and1 domain to their blogger blogs. Although i wouldn't recommend 1and1 to my clients or other bloggers because of the reviews i have about them but you can decide what is best for you. If you have bought a domain from 1and1 and don't know how to park it to your blog then this post is for you.

Steps: 
1. Login to Blogger, go to Settings > Publishing > Blog Address. Click on Add a Custom Domain Name.

2. Add Custom Domain Name, add in your new domain name www.your-domain.com and click save.

3. You should now get an error message. This error shows you the details you need to properly set up your new domain so keep this page open for the next step. The first CNAME is the same for everyone. The second is a specific CNAME for your blog.

4. Login to your 1and1 control panel, scroll down until you see the heading “Domains” and click Domain Centre.

5. Click the checkbox beside your domain and select Domain Settings > Edit DNS Settings.

6. Under Basic DNS Settings choose 1&1 name servers, under Advanced DNS Settings choose Other IP address and in the space for IPv4 Address enter 216.239.32.21 and save.

7. Go back to Domain Overview Dashboard, click Add Domain > Create Subdomain. Enter the first Name/Host/Label field from Blogger, which is www

8. Click on the subdomain and click DNS Settings. Under Advanced DNS Settings choose CNAME and enter the first Destination/Target/Points To from Blogger, which is ghs.google.com

9. Go back to Domain Overview Dashboard, click Add Domain > Create Subdomain. Enter the second Name/Host/Label field from Blogger, which is unique to you and will look like 00AA0AAAAA

10. Click on the subdomain and click DNS Settings. Under Advanced DNS Settings choose CNAME and enter the second Destination/Target/Points To from Blogger, which is unique to you and will look like gv-a0aaaa0aaaaaa.dv.googlehosted.com

11. On your domain settings for your custom domain you should now see the URL you bought and two subdomains.

12. Go back onto Blogger > Settings > Publishing > Blog Address and enter your domain name and hit save. This time there shouldn’t be an error. Make sure to tick the option of redirecting from domain-name.com to www.your-domain.com.

After performing the above steps you should have successfully parked your 1and1 domain to your blog.

How To Create An e-Commerce Section On Your Blogger Blog

It is no doubt that the major problem faced by bloggers using blogspot platform is the inability for them to perform most of the actions people on wordpress can perform with the use of plugins. If you are going to even perform some of such actions on blogspot you need implement some codes. => A pop up box should appear with many options, choose e-commerce.

=> Now edit your shop by adding your products.

=> When adding your products you would be told to input your paypal email so you an directly receive payments to your paypal account.

=> After adding your products you are now to integrate it into your blog. Don't worry this is very easy.

=> You will be provided with an html code after creating your shop. It is this html code you will be adding to your blog.

=> Go to your blogger blog and create a new page. You can name it "Shop" or pick any other suitable name.

=> Now navigate away from the compose part and pick html and paste the html code you were provided with after creating your shop then click publish and you are good to go.

After performing the above steps you must have successfully integrated an e-commerce section to your blog. You can also add the html code to you sidebar using the html/javascript gadget option.

How To Use IFTTT To Auto Post Your Blog Post To Your Social Media Account

IFTTT is a tool that allows you create simple if this then that actions by creating a recipe. All you need to do is create a recipe then think of an action you want to perform, trigger it and your action is automatically performed. With IFTTT you can set your blog posts to automatically be posted to all your social media account once you publish a new update. I have been using IFTTT for 2 years now and this tool is amazing and beyond expectation.

How To Use IFTTT To Auto Post To Your Social Media Account

1. Sign in to your IFTTT account if you dont have one you can create one HERE

2. After successfully signing in click on create recepie

3. Click on "this"

4. Choose a trigger. This is where you pick the blog you want to post from if its a blogger blog or a wordpress blog.

5. After choosing a trigger then you have to create the trigger. Click on create trigger

6. Click on "that" then choose where you want to auto post to. Either to Facebook, Twitter, etc.

7. Add Ingredients to you recipe. This option allows you to edit how you want the posts you are sharing to appear. You can add post title, post url, post image & other available ingredients which you choose to add.

8. Click on Create action.

Now you have successfully set IFTTT to auto post for you.

Note: To chose to auto post to another social media account you will have to create another recipe.
